What happened to code blocks?

I decided to update the theme and the code block section looks…extremely meh. See attachments.

The old code block allowed for horizontal scrolling and syntax coloring.
The new block does not allow for text coloring and sometimes wraps the input instead of displaying a full length section via horizontal scrolling.

Please advise.
